How the Brigades work

Prevent Forest Fires
- They are alert to any sign of fire.
- They rely on indications of a fire emergency, the first line of defense.
- They disseminate information in the community on how to prevent fires.

2. Participate in organic pruning campaigns
- They prune dry or harmful branches to protect the trees.
- These prunings help make forests healthier and safer.

3. Reforestation with native trees
- Plant species such as queñua, molle, chachacomo, etc.
- These species help conserve water and restore ecosystems.

3. Educate and raise awareness in the community
- They participate in parades, marches and workshops.
- They promote environmental culture and care for nature.
- Attend training sessions

4. Monitor and report
- They keep a record of their activities (photos, reports, videos).
- They report on the progress and problems they detect in their community.
This is how it works
A collaboration between the municipality, communities and the NGO Valle Sagrado Verde to contribute together to nature.
1. Agreement between the Municipality and Valle Sagrado Verde. 2. The Municipality invites the communities. 3. Communities enroll in the Brigade program. 4. Valles Sagrado Verde organizes an inauguration and the communities work. 5. Communities begin to work to contribute to the local natural environment.

Testimonials

Rosa Quispe Huamán, líder brigada Pilcobamba
“In previous years, we had fires in our community, and we didn't know how to deal with them. Thanks to Valle Sagrado Verde's training, we can now respond quickly and know what to do to protect our trees. Regenerative pruning also taught me that the forest can recover with our own hands. I feel happy to contribute to nature and to the community work we do together.”

Flor Reyes Nuñez,
Leader of Palomar Brigade
“For years now, we haven't had any arson attacks in our Palomar community thanks to the strong organization of our community and the training provided by Valle Sagrado Verde, and today we remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting our natural environment.”

Albino Ttito Solis,
Leader of Pachar Brigade
“I never imagined that pruning trees could be a way to save the forest. Now I understand it's a way to strengthen native trees and prevent fires. Furthermore, community work has brought us closer together. I feel proud to have contributed to the recovery of our forests. As a brigade, we are proud to contribute to reforestation and pruning, since we needed to do something about the previous fires years ago, and to recover that lost area, what better way than through reforestation and ecological pruning.”
