Reforestation

With Native Species

Planting trees in deforested areas.

Since the start of the project, we have planted a total of 90,000 trees, thereby contributing to the ecological restoration and conservation of high Andean ecosystems. In the early years of the project, reforestation was Valle Sagrado Verde's primary practice. However, following forest fires that wiped out thousands of newly planted seedlings, and observing their slow growth, our organization shifted its focus and began implementing ecological pruning and forest fire prevention practices, in combination with reforestation. In recent decades, the Sacred Valley has lost much of its forests due to overgrazing and fires. With our reforestation activities, we are returning native trees to areas where none remained.
